HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – When guests arrive at the new guitar-shaped hotel at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, they’re met with a stunning installation of sight and sounds.
It’s called “The Oculus” – and it combines elements of water, fire and technology all choreographed to music.
The brand new engineering masterpiece, which stands 450 feet into the sky, comes with 638 new luxury guest rooms.
The entire hotel is designed around the beautiful curves of an electric guitar.
It began as an idea Jim Allen, chairman of Hard Rock International, had back in 2007.
“I said in a passing comment to one of our architects, ‘We should shape it like a huge guitar.’ That was the first chapter and here we stand today,” Allen said.
Live plant walls are throughout the building that features 19 restaurants, including the all newly re- envisioned Council Oak. The Oculus Bar, with its warm colors and inviting textures, is destined to be the hot spot here.
On this official Opening Day, guests were lining up to check into this one of a kind of resort.

The $1.5 billion expansion also includes a 32,000-square foot Rock Spa and Salon Oasis, featuring saunas, salt rooms and calming spots to breathe.
And let’s not forget the all new Hard Rock Live. This state of the art entertainment venue has seating for some 6,500 guests.
“This is designed as a clam shell. We wanted to be able to create something that would work for any entertainer. The furthest distance from the back wall to the stage is only 164 feet. There’s nothing like it in the world,” Allen said.
There’s simply not a bad seat in the house. And if you buy tickets for “the couches,” you have nonstop cocktail service so you never have to leave your seat.
Outside is 13 and half acre pool lagoon. Guests can swim forever or rent a lush Bora Bora villa with private wading areas.
Back inside, retail therapy abounds.
